A fairway forward.
Operation Fairway removes the barriers between veterans and the game of golf ; building community, purpose, and a path back to community, one round at a time.
We believe the golf course can do what a lot of other programs can't - get someone outside, moving, focused, and building connection and community in the process.
Why golf
We chose golf because it’s like life; it’s challenging, engaging, and reminds us that progress comes one swing at a time.
Who we are
Operation Fairway is a Colorado Springs–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We remove the cost, the gear, and the isolation that keep veterans off the course, and replace it with a group that shows up.
Our Programs
sets fore vets
A lot of veterans who want to try golf; stop before they even start. One big reason is because they don't own clubs, and buying a set isn't the first thing on their mind. Sets Fore Vets removes that barrier.
We collect gently used golf equipment; and put it directly into the hands of veterans participating in our programs. Participants use loaner sets while they're learning, and as they build consistency in THE LONG GAME, earn a set of their own to keep.
Clubs that don't fit our program's needs are resold, and the proceeds go straight back into Operation Fairway; covering things like course access, transportation, and gear for the next veteran who walks through the door.
Donate a set. Give someone their first swing.
the long game
Some veterans come to Operation Fairway looking for more than a class or session on the range; they want to be outside and enjoy the full game of golf. The Long Game is built for that drive.
This track moves participants from consistent practice into real rounds: playing regularly, tracking scores, and working toward an official handicap. From there, it's about sharpening the mental and technical game; course management, pressure situations, consistency; for those who want to take their game into competitive play.
It's called The Long Game because that's exactly what it is. Not a quick fix, not an overnight transformation; steady, deliberate progress, round after round. The same patience and resilience it takes to come back from a bad shot is what it takes to come back from anything, and that’s what The Long Game is about.
Fairway open
Not everyone who picks up a club wants to chase a scorecard. These events are for the ones who just want to be outside, hit some balls, and be around people who get it. No pressure, no pace of play to worry about, no goal beyond showing up.
This program is built for that. It's practice-focused, low-pressure, and open-ended; there's no requirement to ever play a round or keep score if that's not what someone's after. Some participants are here as a way to stay active and connected. Others may eventually want more structure and move toward full rounds and keeping score; but that's never the expectation here. Fairway Open events are open to Veterans and their Families
